Too early to call, but I’m tired and I’m going to bed.
April 29, next day
Pollievre won the battle but lost the war. My analysis here won’t surprise anyone actually. He got the change he wanted: Trudeau is gone—pretty much what he wanted. But he just kept pounding at the ghost when the haunting changed to monsters. He couldn’t pivot away from his obsession.
So I started this cartoon wishfully, not as some kind of premonition or wisdom.
Pierre isn’t completely gone. Libs haven’t squeezed into majority. But there will be no screechy smarmy libertarian whiner in the Commons for a bit. I look forward to that. Speculation about a by-election? But not likely for a year or more. Much to shake out yet. Will the Cons risk losing a seat by someone resigning? Many of those Conservative wins come out of split votes and very close counts.
